National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on October 8 met with President of the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK) Nail Olpak on the sidelines of the Turkey-Viet Nam Business and Investment Forum in Istanbul, Turkey.

NA ChairwomanNganexpressed her delight at the development of trade and investment ties between the two countries, especially since the signing of the trade, economic, and technicalcooperation agreement in 1997.
Sheexpressed thanks toMr.Olpakand DEIK for working closely with Vietnamese agencies to hold the forum, adding that direct flights between VietNam and Turkey have facilitated bilateral trade, investment, and tourism.
The top legislator said the forum affords Vietnamese and Turkish firms a chance to learn about business opportunities in each side, thereby developing bilateral cooperation in the future.
Mr.Olpaksaid the forumattracted nearly 160 Turkish firms, manifesting that the Turkish enterprises are concerned about investment and production opportunities in Viet Nam.
On the occasion of the 40thfounding anniversary of diplomatic ties, a Turkey-Viet Nam business and investment forum will be held in late October inIstanbul, he said.
The DEIK’s function and mission was established in 1985 in order to monitor the 144 Turkish business councils worldwide.
In the Asia-Pacific alone, it has nine business councils in charge of coordinating Turkey’s global business operations and holding responsibility for foreign economic-trade delegations working in the country./.
