The PM recently gave a nod to the Mekong Sub-region Communicable Diseases Control Project (second phase) worth of US $30 million.
Out of the total cost, the Asian Development Bank contributes US $27 million.
The Ministry of Health was entrusted to review and ratify the project.
The project targets to timely respond to and control epidemics which would cause severe impacts on regional economy and healthcare system; improve communicable disease control (CDC) for vulnerable groups especially women and children in border areas; and strengthen regional collaboration in CDC including HIV/AIDS control.
It was reported that the project spent US $12.85 million in the first phase./.
