Continuing his official tour to the Laos People’s Democratic Republic, Vietnamese State President Nguyen Minh Triet and his entourage yesterday visited the southern province of Champasak and the northern province of Luang Namtha.

State President Nguyen Minh Triet hailed the economic, cultural and tourism potentials in the southern province of Champasak.
He also showed pleasure at the flourishing economic ties between this province and Vietnamese localities as well as the launching of a direct air route between Pakse, the capital town of Champask, and Hồ Chí Minh City in October.
Champasak always gives priorities to strengthening relations with Vietnamese partners, said Governor Sonsay Siphandon.
It is reported that Vietnamese enterprises have set foothold via 18 projects worth of over US $1 billion in Champasak. So far, Champasak has shaken hands with 13 Vietnamese localities in such fields as agriculture, cultivation of industrial plants, transportation, tourism, education and training.
Earlier, State President Nguyen Minh Triet and his entourage went to visit the northern province of Luang Namtha.
During his meeting with Luang Namtha’s Governor Phimmason Leuang-khamma, President Triết hoped that the province would boost economic ties with Vietnamese localities.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese State President presented Luang Namtha with VND 10 billion (US $520,000) and 30 sets of computers./.
