Vietnam over the last five years poured more than US $1.5 billion to 162 projects in Lao capital city of Vientiane, becoming the biggest FDI provider to the city.

The Vientiane Planning and Investment Department recently reported that in 2006-2010 period, the city approved 1,052 FDI projects worth US $3.5 billion, up 80% against the 2001-2005 period.
China ranks second with 242 projects worth US $705 million.
In 2010, Vietnam invested in 107 projects in 25 countries and territories, with a combined registered capital of US $2.926 billion, according to the Foreign Investment Agency./.
