Biggest trade partners overwhelm country’s total trade volume

The trade turnover between Vietnam and its nine biggest partners accounts for 80% of the country’s total trade volume in the 1995-2009 period.
This is part of the book entitled “Vietnam’s Cooperation Index 1995-2009” published recently by the National Committee for International Economic Cooperation (NCIEC).
The country’s nine biggest trade partners include ASEAN, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, the European Union, the US and Canada.
The book says that the trade cooperation between Vietnam and its nine biggest trade partners expanded faster than that of the country with the rest of the world.
Of these partners, the U.S. investment activities have developed dramatically in recent years, boosting its investment index with Viet Nam to 20 times against 1995.
Australia is the most attractive destination for Vietnamese overseas study, while ASEAN makes up the biggest tourism market share of Vietnam, and Japan is the largest ODA donor to the country.
Meanwhile, cooperation ties between Vietnam and other partners like China, the EU, Canada, New Zealand, and the RoK have grown steadily.
The book is expected to provide a reference material for policymakers, investors, businesses, students and researchers, said Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Lê Danh Vinh./.
