PM Nguyen Tan Dung has urged Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan-members of the Common Customs Union to soon sign a free trade agreement with Vietnam.

The Government chief made the call on Monday during his meeting with Russian Deputy FM Borodavkin who is on a working visit to Vietnam.
Regarding the Vietnam-Russia strategic partnership, PM Dung stressed that both sides should maintain close coordination for effective implementation of the signed agreements.
The two sides set the target of increasing the bilateral trade volume to US $3 billion in 2012 and US $10 billion by 2020.
PM Dung said that Vietnam and Russia should expand effort to support each other on both bilateral and multi-lateral forums. He also affirmed that Vietnam advocates Russia’s APEC 2012 Presidency.
For his part, Russian Deputy FM informed the host leader about the outcomes of the political consultation with his Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son earlier the same day.
The event took place in the constructive atmosphere with a number of agreements reached in a wide range of areas, including trade, investment and energy.

During the above political consultation, the two sides noted that the strategic partnership has been flourishing over the past time. Currently, both sides are preparing for V. Putin’s official visit to Vietnam this year.
They deliberated on concrete measures to beef up the implementation of the joint strategic projects, including the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Vietnam.
The two sides voiced support for continued expansion of energy cooperation and for upgrading the chairmanship of the Vietnam -Russia Inter-governmental Sub-Committee for economic-trade-scientific-technological cooperation to the level of standing Deputy PM.
Deputy FM Bui Thanh Son reiterated that Vietnam is ready to support Russia to successfully organize the APEC Summit in 2012.
Meanwhile, he calls for Russia’s support for Vietnam to become member of the UN Human Rights Council in 2013 - 2016 term and non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council in 2020-2021.
