Viet Nam, Thailand businesses seek stronger cooperation

Thai businesses gathered at a forum in Hanoi on June 10 to seek ways to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese partners, and to develop trade ties between the two countries.
The event was jointly organised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI).
Vice President of VCCI, Doan Duy Khuong, said that the forum will contribute to promoting economic and trade ties which see a high potential for development between Vietnam and Thailand, active members of ASEAN and World Trade Organisation.
Pornsil Patcrintanakul, Vice President of CCI, said that the Thai government always creates a healthy legal and investment environment to attract foreign investors to the country.
He added that CCI would create favourable conditions for Thai and Vietnamese businesses to cooperate for mutual development.
Last year, two-way trade reached almost 6.8 billion USD, which was assessed to be unmatched with the two sides’ potentials.
During this period, Vietnam imported 5.6 billion USD worth of goods from Thailand. Meanwhile, Thai businesses invested 16 FDI projects in Vietnam with a registered total capital of 131.9 million USD./.
