Vietnam’s exports to Mexico reached over 373 million USD in the first five months of this year, representing a year-on-year rise of 30 percent, said the Trade Office of the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico on July 21.
During this period, Vietnam’s imports from Mexico dropped 35 percent to 22.6 million USD.
Hoang Anh Dung, Trade Counsellor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico affirmed that Vietnam continues to enjoy trade surplus with this second largest economy in Latin America thanks to an increase in exports of traditional commodities like footwear, garments and aquatic products, especially basa fish.
The Trade Office of the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico and the Central Bank of Mexico (CBM) agreed that Vietnam’s rising exports to this market in the first five months of this year is in line with the host country’s economic recovery process.
CBM forecast that if the situation continued going on well in the last half of this year, the goal of one billion USD in bilateral trade this year is fully achievable./.
