The Vietnamese Foreign Minister made the point today in Ha Noi while receiving Senator Jim Webb, Chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on East Asia and Pacific Affairs who is on a working visit to Vietnam.
Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh thanked the Senator for his positive contributions to the growing bilateral ties and interests in the regional peace, stability, cooperation and development.
Mr. Minh said that he was pleased to witness the advancement of the bilateral ties, underlining that Vietnam would continue to focus on the relations with the US.
The US Senator affirmed that the US Congress in general and he in particular would closely follow regional situations and back multinational and peaceful solutions to disputes in the East Sea.
Mr. Jim Webb expressed his hope that related parties would sustainably use water resources in the Mekong River.
This is Senator Jim Webb’s second visit to Vietnamthis year. The first was in April.
