The two PMs also agreed to further boost cooperation in security and national defense, culture, education, transport, energy and others; speed up the embellishment of landmarks along the borderline.
Both sides will actively deploy the project on improving the quality and efficiency of the bilateral cooperation
The two leaders entrusted the two foreign ministries to discuss measures to organize activities on the occasion of the “Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year” in 2012.

The agreement was made at the talks held on Friday between visiting PM Nguyen Tan Dung and his Lao counterpart Thongsing Thammavong in Vientiane capital.
They also pledged to continue closer coordination at international forums like the United Nations, ASEAN, ASEM and others; agreed on peaceful settlement of disputes in the East Sea on the basis of international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).
PM Dung affirmed Vietnam’s consistent support for Laos to join the World Trade Organization (WTO) and advocate the neighboring country to successfully organize the 9th Asia-Europe Summit in late 2012.
