Two way-trade turnover between Vietnam and Cambodia surged by 116% to US 105.2 million in the first eight months of 2011, reported Cambodian Ministry of Commerce.
The figure included Cambodia’s exports of US $976 million to Vietnam, up 43% against the same period last year.
The surge in Cambodia’s export volume to Vietnam was partly attributed to the effectiveness of the tax preference agreement for product categories which started last June, said Mr. Kong Putheara, Director of Department of Trade Statistics and Information of the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce.
Vietnam mainly exports foodstuff, machinery, clothes and input materials to the neighboring country while importing rubber, rice and maize from it.
Now, 13 product categories of Vietnamenjoy zero tax when imported to Cambodia.
