The Minister Bui Quang Vinh had a meeting with Royal Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia Sok An in the afternoon of February 10th 2012. At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Sok An appreciated the result of cooperation between the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam with Cambodia's Ministry of Planning. "This effective cooperation has partly promoted the development of economic relations, especially investments between the two countries," Deputy Prime Minister Sok An expressed confidence that, in the coming time, such cooperation would be enhanced in many practical and more efficient ways.
The relationship between two countries’ planning sectors is expected to be expanded in order to be appropriate with their functions, missions and meet the requirement of economic relationship between two countries.
Minister Bui Quang Vinh informed the Deputy Prime Minister Sok An on the socio - economic development of Vietnam. He also affirmed their determination to further strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Planning and Development Council of Cambodia in order to implement consultancy function of the two governments in not only making of socio-economic development strategies, policies and plans, but also investment coordination. The Minister hoped that the signed Agreement on Promotion and Protection would early be amended to facilitate and further improve the efficiency of investment cooperation between the two countries.
Earlier, Minister Bui Quang Vinh and Senior Minister, Minister Chhay Than Plan Cambodia has signed Memorial of cooperation between the two ministries. Accordingly, the two sides agreed to continue close cooperation in the construction, operation, focusing and strengthening exchanges, visiting, learning experience, enhancing information share and expertise related to the identification of economic indicators and statistics ...
On the first day in Cambodia, Minister Bui Quang Vinh also had meeting with the Minister, General Secretary of Growth Council of Cambodia Sok Chanda on measures to promote investment, including the amendment, supplement of some contents of the signed Agreement on Promotion and Protection of Investment.
According to the two sides, investment from Vietnam to Cambodia has increased rapidly in recent years. Until now, Vietnam enterprises have invested more than 100 projects in Cambodia with total investment of US$ 2.3 billion. Cambodia has become the second largest of the 50 countries and territories receiving direct investment from Vietnam.
Also in the visit to Cambodia, Minister Bui Quang Vinh and Delegation of Ministry of Planning and Investment, visited Siem Reap province and worked with the Chairman of People’s Community Chan So Phon./.
