Photo: Minh Hau (MPI Portal).(MPI Portal) – Permanent Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment worked with Director General of National Institute of Statistics of Cambodia (NIS) San Sythan on April 24th, during the visit of the delegation of National Institute of Statistics of Cambodia to Vietnam.
In his speech, Deputy Minister Cao Viet Sinh appreciated the relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia. In recent years, cooperation in the areas of two countries especially in economy, trade, investment and tourism has been achieved dramatic steps.
The purpose of this visit is to study, share experiences from statistic sector of Vietnam, said Mr. San Sythan.
Vietnamese Statistics has gained important achievements, the legal framework in this area is being improved, the Government has approved the development strategy. Legal frame for this sector is being accomplished. The Government of Vietnam summited Strategy for Statistic Development during 2011-2020 and Vision to 2025 in order to fulfill the mission of the Vietnam Statistics sector which is to produce and disseminate statistical information timely, accurately, completely, objectively and transparently for serving the Party and State in the assessment and forecasting, strategic and policy planning, establishment of socio-economic development plan and insurance of social needs of statistical information and services of internal and external organizations and individuals.
Mr. San Sythan said the statistical sector of Cambodia is still poor. Training Center of Cambodia Statistics has not been really effective. That’s why, Mr. San Sythan hoped this visit as an opportunity for studying and experiences’ sharing, spontaneously sending officers to study in Vietnam.
Mr. San Sythan added, statistical sector of two countries would focus on the main contents which are as followed: introduction in statistical structures of the two countries, financial management; Agricultural investigation; Bilateral cooperation between the two agencies in 2012 and later years.
As Deputy General of Vietnam - Cambodia Cooperation Department, Deputy Minister wished Cambodia to launch the coordination programs, especially personnel training program. Accordingly, Cambodia would send officials and students to study in Vietnam every year. /.
