Japanese volunteers help improve Vietnamese firms

A lot of Vietnamese businesses have seen positive changes in both outlook and production thanks to retired Japanese experts working as volunteers for a project on facilitating support industry in Vietnam’s industrial zones.
The project is being jointly carried out by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Japan International Cooperation Agency, with the sponsorship of the Japanese Government.
Fourteen experts aged 60-70 guided the Vietnamese companies on how to manage product quality, costs, delivery time, human resources, inventory and even how to arrange their workplace in a tidy and orderly way.
Ho Thanh Tam, Quality Director at Ngo Han company, said the enterprise has changed comprehensively after six months of receiving assistance. Notably, the costs of materials and transport have been significantly cut down thanks to shortened production process.
As many as 29 companies based in HCM City have so far benefited from the project, which is now being carried out at 23 others.
