Viet Nam and Russia are striving to lift up the two-way trade turnover to US$7 billion this year, said Anatoly V. Borovik, Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Borovik made the statement during a press briefing on February 19 on the occasion of the founding anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Last year, the bilateral trade value reached US$3.5 billion, an increase of 40% against 2011.
In terms of investment, Russia is assisting Viet Nam to build the first nuclear power plant in the central province of Ninh Thuan.
Regarding tourism, Viet Nam is an attractive destination for Russian visitors thanks to a number of beautiful beaches, resorts and UNESCO-recognized heritages across the country.
According to Mr. Borovik, potential for bilateral cooperation still remains vast and achievements gained in 2012 would be good premises for both countries to foster linkages./.
