(MPI Portal) – On 18th June, Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh had a meeting with H.E V. I. Ishayev, Minister of Development of the Russian Far East, the plenipotentiary of Russian President in the Far Eastern Federal District.

Since the officially diplomatic relation established in January 1950, the two countries have had cooperation in various fields such as trade, business investment, culture, society ... In order to promote cooperative relation between Vietnam and Russia, both countries have focused on improving investment cooperation between Russia’s localities and provinces and cities of Vietnam which is affirmed more through the presence of the Minister of Development of the Far East at the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
At the meeting, Minister Ishayev said, with the interest in developing the Far East of Russia, the Russian government has gradually adopted the proposals on the prioritized policies for the development activities of the region. The prioritized policies focus on tax cuts for the establishment of new businesses, tax exemptions of property and land, consideration of adjusting the mining tax, adjustment or reduction of import tarriff for technological equipments into Russia and export tarriff for crude products from Russia. Far eastern Russia is more focused on the strengths of oil and gas exploiting industry, marine aquaculture, industrial crops. The light industries such as leather, textiles, wood processing and furniture industry is also attracting more foreign workers. There are currently more than 1,000 Vietnam workers living and working in the Far East of Russia, and mainly in the sectors of construction, forestry...
Minister Bui Quang Vinh agreed with the policy focused on development of the Far East of Russia as a sound one not only in economic aspect but also in political aspect related to the creation of equal opportunities for the development of regions in the country. The Minister also mentioned the strong and potential sectors of Vietnam which could be concerned by the Far East of Russia such as textiles, aquaculture, cultivation and animal husbandry...
Also at the meeting, three representatives from three major regions of the Far Eastern Federal District of Russia including Jewish Autonomous Oblast, Primorsky Krai and Shakhalin Oblast has proposed cooperation opportunities for enterprises in Vietnam. It was specifically emphasized on the strengths of each region as development of light industry and agriculture in Jewish Autonomous Oblast; textile and mining of mineral resources in Primorsky Krai; forestry, wood processing and aquaculture in Shakhalin Oblast.
Minister Ishayev affirmed that the dynamic development of the Asia - Pacific region was attracting the attention of nations in the world for investment. Particularly, Minister Ishayev stressed expectation about potential cooperation with Vietnam. The enhanced cooperation between Vietnam and the Far East of Russia will be the basis to promote cooperation between the two countries./.
