PM Dung made the point on July 10 in Ha Noi while receiving Mr. Kenneth Juster, Managing Director of the global investment firm Warburg Pincus.
The US, said the host leader is one of Viet Nam’s leading investors and trading partners.
The two countries are together with other countries negotiating for the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) which, once successful, would further elevate the two countries’ two-way trade and spur US investment in Viet Nam, which would benefit either side’s development.
He hoped that Mr. Kenneth Juster would lobby American businesses to support Viet Nam in the TPP rounds of talks.
He also expressed his belief that Warbug Pincus will conduct other investment affairs following its first one with Vingroup.
For his part, Juster proposed that the Vietnamese Government take moves to facilitate US operations in Viet Nam.
Established in New York in 1966, Warburg Pincus has developed 14 investment funds and injected more than US$45 billion into nearly 700 firms in 35 countries across the globe.
The US investment became a strategic partner of Vietnam’s Vingroup under a partnership deal inked in May 2013. A Warburg Pincus affiliate decided to spend US$200 million buying 20% of shares of a Vingroup affiliate which specializes in retails./.
