Speaking at the ceremony, PM Nguyen Tan Dung highlighted the important significance of the event when the teo countries are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic ties and the upgrade of relationship to strategic partnership.
Viet Nam always creates favorable conditions for foreign investors, including those from Singapore, said PM Dung.
The country actively improves infrastructure, completes the legal system, streamlines administrative procedures and joins a number of free trade agreements, including the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement, he added.
He announced that the Vietnamese Government is launching the Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway to connect urban areas and industrial parks in central coastal provinces.
With concerted efforts of the two governments and businesses, the fifth VSIP in Quang Ngai will succeed to constitute a vivid manifestation of the close, reliable and efficent strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Singapore, PM Dung noted.
Singaporean PM Lee Hsien Loong underscored that VSIPs are solid symbol of Viet Nam-Singapore economic cooperation.
VSIPs gather human resources and industrial land of Viet Nam and experience of Singapore on industrial park management and solutions for urban infrastructure, he added.
VSIPs could not succeed in the absence of strong support of Vietnamese administrations from the grassroots to central level, PM Lee said.
He wished that both sides will increase cooperative activities to tap their huge potential to make them advance further and thrive.
Until now, VSIPs has attracted 490 investors from 22 countries and territories with total investment of more than US$6 billion, creating jobs for 140,000 people..
The VSIP Quang Ngai is built on 600 ha in Son Tinh district in the Dung Quat Economic Zone and an urban area of 520 ha next to the center of Quang Ngai City.
At the event, the two leaders witnessed the hand-over of investment certificates and investment agreements to the first investors in VSIP Quang Ngai./.
