Minister Bui Quang Vinh meets Indian Ambassador plenipotenary and extraordinary in Vietnam

(MPI Portal) – In the afternoon of December 19th, at the headquarter of Ministry of Planning and Investment, Minister Bui Quang Vinh had a meeting with Ms. Preeti Saran, Indian Ambassador plenipotenary and extraordinary in Vietnam.

Opening the meeting, Minister Bui Quang Vinh appreciated good development of friendly traditional cooperative relation between Vietnam and India on areas such as politics, diplomacy, economy, trade, investment, culture, education… The Minister said that until November of 2013, India has had 76 effective projects with over 253 million USD of registered capital, ranking 30/101 in the countries and territories investing in Vietnam. The Indian projects are mainly focusedon processing and manufacturing industry with 35 projects worth total 136.8 million USD of investment capital;followed bymining sector with 3 projects worth 86 million USD of total investment. Regarding investment from Vietnam to India, until now Vietnam has had 3 projects with 23.6 million USD of total investment capital in the areas of wholesale, retail and science- technology.

The Minister said that India had potential in information technology such as e-gorvernment, software development… Indian companies started business in Vietnam in the fields of software development and information technologytraining, textiles, banking and finance… Especially Vietnam encourages investors, including India to invest in construction of power plant from coal, gas… as well as nuclear energy in Vietnam.

Responding to emotion of the Minister Bui Quang Vinh, Indian Ambassador in Vietnam Preeti Saran committed to determine in her new term for development of the two countries. The Ambassador emphasized the interest of India to Vietnamese projects, focusing on several areas such as steel manufacturing, oil and gas extraction, chemicals, information technology, telecommunications and high technology industries...

Ambassador Preeti Saran’s visit partially confirmed the cooperation relationship between the two countries. Ambassador Preeti Saran affirmed to coordinate closely with authorities of the two countries in effective implementation of the agreements between the two countries’ leaders. The two sides should further promote investment and trade through workshops, information exchange, as well as organization of business delegations of the two countries to survey, exchange and cooperatebilaterally,with the aim to approach and promote exports of advantageous goods, towards balance trade between the two countries. Thereby, the relationship between Vietnam and India is confirmed to be increasingly promoted and developed./.
