Talking to the Indonesian Assembly Speaker, Sidarto Danusubroto, in Ha Noi yesterday, the PM said co-operation in trade, investment and tourism should be boosted.
He added that he was delighted at the development of the strategic partnership and hoped more could be done to fulfill signed agreements for mutual growth.
Viet Nam and Indonesia should also promote co-operation in science and technology, culture, education, security and defence while also increasing exchanges between people, he said.
PM Dung suggested the two countries continue close co-ordination at regional and international forums, especially the United Nations, while working together to make more contributions to the development of ASEAN.
On the East Sea issue, he said he highly valued Indonesia's six-point initiative on the matter.
He said he hoped all parties would implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) in a strict manner, leading to the introduction of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) for peace, stability, co-operation and development in the region.
Danusubroto added that all issues must be settled through peaceful methods and dialogue to foster stability.
He said Viet Nam and Indonesia had shared a long-standing traditional friendship which had been nurtured by their leaders.
On Sunday, the Indonesian official held talks with Chairman of the National Assembly, Nguyen Sinh Hung.
Boosting Sudan ties
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has told Sudanese Ambassador Sayed Altayeb Ahmad that Viet Nam was keen to boost ties.
Meeting the newly-accredited envoy on Monday in Ha Noi, Dung suggested that Viet Nam and Sudan step up their partnership in economics, trade, investment and rice production.
The PM said he hoped the two sides would continue close co-ordination in the United Nations arena.
He said the Vietnamese Government, ministries and sectors would offer all possible support for him during his tenure.
In reply, Ambassador Ahmad praised the socio-economic development achieved by Viet Nam.
He noted that on April 4, the Viet Nam-Sudan Joint Committee would meet to speed up co-operation.
The envoy said Vietnamese enterprises were welcome in Sudan, adding that he would do his utmost to beef up co-operation./.
