PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc's first participation in a G7 Summit, which will take place in Mie Prefecture, Japan this year, indicates the respect of Japan in particular and G7 in general for Viet Nam's role and status in the region.
Having recently become a middle-income nation,Viet Namhas made remarkable contributions to the world and the region, making efforts in fulfilling millennium development goals andjoininghands with other nations to implement the2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Southeast Asian nation have actively contributed to the United Nations’ peacekeeping activities, jointlycreated theregionalsecurity structure in ASEANand the Asia-Pacific region, andensuredsecurity and peace in accordance withinternational regulations, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982.
Viet Nam’s participation in the G7 Summit will help address issues of joint concerns, contributing tointernational and regional peace, stability, cooperation and development.
The G7 Summit includes two sessions, focusing on high-quality infrastructure, regional security, women rights, health affairs,the implementation of 203 Agenda and cooperation with Africa.
The G7 summitwill be held on May 27 with the participation of G7 members and invitedguests, includingViet Nam, Indonesia, Laos, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka,Papua New Guinea, Chadand other international organizations including the United Nations, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the Asian Development Bank./.
