(MPI Portal) – On December 11th 2015, in Pakse city under Champasak province, People’s Democratic Republic of Laos, the 10th Cambodia – Laos – Vietnam (CLV) development triangle area joint coordination committee meeting was held under the co-chairing of H.E. Somdy Duangdy, Minister of Planning and Investment of PDR Laos, Chairman of Coordination Committee on the Development Triangle Area in Laos, H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister of Commerce of Kingdom of Cambodia, Chairman of Coordination Committee on the Development Triangle Area in Cambodia, H.E. Bui Quang Vinh, Minister of Planning and Investment of Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Chairman of Coordination Committee on the Development Triangle Area in Vietnam.

At the meeting, the Ministers highly appreciated the proactive attention of ministries, branches, related agencies and local government in the events and meetings, contributing to the success of the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM). They approved the recommendations of the SOM and expressed their pleasure at the performance of General master plan of CLV development triangle area of the three countries. However, cause of the lack of expense and coordination of the three countries in deploying recommendations of the three Prime Ministers at the 8th CLV Summit held in Vienchan, PDR Laos on November 25th 2014, the Ministers suggested that SOM and sub-committees should complete their tasks before the 9th SOM expecting to be held in Kingdom of Cambodia in 2016.
The Ministers highly appreciated the outcomes of the 9th Trade, Investment and Tourism Promotion Conference taking place on December 9th 2015 with the participation of 350 entrepreneurs and delegates. The Conference opened cooperative opportunities for businessman of the provinces under CLV development triangle area.
The Ministers also highly appreciated the proactive participation of ministries, agencies and provincial governments of CLV development triangle area in organization of Trade and Tourism Fair on December 7th to 11th, 2015 in Champasak province. They also encouraged the three countries to continue organizing more similar events along the border of the three countries in the coming time to strengthen cooperation among business community of the three countries as well as share information to further promote trade and tourism exchange among the three countries.
The Ministries highly appreciated the assistance of Japan for Mekong regional countries, including CLV development triangle area, contributing to socio – economic development of CLV development triangle area in the coming time in such fields as demining unexploded ordnance (UXO), supporting people with disabilities, coping with natural disasters and assisting emergency medical.

The Ministers emphasized that the three countries should continue boosting clear and specific cooperative activities in order to gain added value for the region. They also encouraged the related agencies of the three countries to continue building prioritized portfolio to summit to the three Prime Ministers adopt at the 9th SOM and to development partners and international financial organizations to mobilize financial assistances for the projects.
The 10th joint coordination committee meeting and related activities will be held in 2017 in Vietnam./.
