PM receives newly-appointed US Ambassador
Viet Nam attaches importance to the Comprehensive Partnership relations with the US and expects to promote the relationship more effectively to contribute to international and regional peace, stability, cooperation and development.

PM Nguyen Tan Dung made the statement at his reception forUSnewly-appointed Ambassador Theodore Osius on January 7.

The PM said that the two nations’ relations have developed in all fields since they established the diplomatic ties 20 years ago.

He suggested the two sides actively launch nine cooperative areas within the framework of the Comprehensive Partnership relations, including the high-ranking delegation exchanges in 2015 and the organization of the 20thanniversary of the normalization of diplomatic ties.

In addition, the two nations need to accelerate other potential fields such as economics, trade and investment, he said.

Viet Nam hoped that the US will take flexible measures to complete the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations, he initiated, adding that when the TPP is signed, the Viet Nam-US relationship would reachhigher level, bringingbenefits toboth.

Highlighting the importance of the Comprehensive Partnershipbetween the US and Viet Nam, the Ambassador asserted to do his utmost to enhance the relations.

He conveyed President Barack Obama’s high appreciation of his talks with PM Nguyen Tan Dung on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit in Myanmar last year and re-confirmed the US’s support for Viet Nam’s prosperity and independence.

Ambassador Osius advocated Viet Nam’s priorities in economic development, adding that the US has been more flexible in the TPP negotiations to conclude it in March so that President Obama can submit it to the US Congress for approval in May this year.

The US expects to become the largest trade partner of Viet Nam, he revealed.

He also spoke ofViet Nam’s advances in guaranteeing citizens and human rights and the nation’s process of establishing aState of the rule of law.

The US also supported Viet Nam’s viewpoints on regional security issues, he said, adding that President Obama is making efforts for the full removal of arms sale ban on Viet Nam./.
