Vietnamese and German authorities have recently held a conference in the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau to launch co-operation and strengthen the capacity of water management.
The workshop was jointly held by the Viet Nam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA), the German Development Co-operation Agency (GIZ), and the German Water Partnership (GWP).
At the workshop, representatives discussed co-operation between the German Society for International Co-operation (GIZ), the German Water Partnership (GWP) and the Germany – Viet Nam Partnership Project for Competence Development of Viet Nam's Water Sector (DEVIWAS) to connect the countries’ water sectors.
The two sides also worked to establish a Centre for Water Competence for Viet Nam's water sector with assistance from Germany on equipment, technology, training and field trips. Germany will help train the centre’s first 20 lecturers.
Three co-operative documents on training and enhancing capacity of the Vietnamese water management sector were also signed on the occasion.
The German government has provided €.5 billion in official development assistance capital for Viet Nam in three key areas including vocational training; environment, climate change adaption; and energy./.
