The Vietnam Development Partner Forum (VDBF) 2015 titled “Toward competitive, inclusive, sustainable growth” opened today in Hanoi.
The event provides the overview of Vietnam’s socio-economic development in the 2011-2015 period in general and in 2015 in particular, discussion of socio-economic development plans as well as breakthrough strategies for the period from 2016 to 2020.
“2015 is the last year of implementing Vietnam’s 2011-2015 socio-economic development plan. In 2015, Vietnam actively integrates into the global economy through participating in the ASEAN Economic Community, signing free trade agreements with South Korea and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), completing negotiations of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). These gave both opportunities and challenges for Vietnam’s socio-economic development,” said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
According to Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh, the Vietnamese economy has made numerous comprehensive achievements with the average growth of 5.88 per cent per year during the last five years.
The poverty rate has decreased to under the five per cent level. People’ living standard has improved. In the upcoming five years, Vietnam plans the GDP growth at 6.5-7 per cent per year and focuses on implementing three breakthroughs of improving institutional reforms, enhancing human resources’ skills and developing the infrastructure network.
The VDBF is a senior policy dialog between the Vietnamese government and strategic partners to discuss important policies to promote Vietnam’s socio-economic development and improve people’s living standards./.
