The U.S. attaches importance to the comprehensive partnership with Viet Nam, said U.S. high-ranking leaders at their meetings with Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue in Washington D.C., the U.S. on the occasion of the Vietnamese Deputy PM’s official visit to the U.S. from June 25-27.

At the meeting with U.S.Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan on June 25, Mr. Hue asserted Viet Nam consistently pursues the diplomatic policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification and active international integration.
Viet Nam attaches importance to and is willing to promote the comprehensive partnership with the U.S. more intensively for the sake of their people and contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world, he added.
Mr. Mike Pompeo agreed that the two nations should enhance bilateral relationship on the principles consented by both sides, hailing the dynamic development, role and status of Viet Nam in the world.
The two sides discussed ways to accelerate the comprehensive partnership.
The U.S. diplomats said they advocated independent and prosperous Viet Nam, which makes contributions to maintaining peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific, and are ready to cooperate with Viet Nam in addressing issues of mutual concerns.
They pledged to strengthen high-ranking delegation exchanges, boost trade and investment and promote cooperation in energy, defense-security and overcoming consequences of the war.
Both sides confirmed to share mutual interests in maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development, respecting laws in theIndo-Asia-Pacific region, address disputes with peaceful measures in line with international laws, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982, respect diplomatic and legal procedures, effectively and fully realize the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and soon ink the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC).
Regarding other issues, Viet Nam welcomes the outcomes of the U.S.- Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Summit on June 12, willing to cooperate and support all efforts to address disputes through dialogues, contributing to peace, security and stability on the Korean Peninsula./.
