Deputy Minister Phuong said that in the context of rapid and complex changes in the world and regional situations, which negatively affected countries including Vietnam and Laos, the strong leadership and direction of the Central Committees of both Parties and Governments, ministries, sectors, mass organisations, localities, and businesses, both sides have actively coordinated and positively implemented agreements, contributing significantly to maintaining political stability and socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in each country.

The great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos continue to develop and go deeper, strengthening the trust and core role, directing the overall relationship of the two countries; effectively supporting and helping each other in multilateral international and regional cooperation forums; the Intergovernmental Committee, chaired by the two ministers of Planning and Investment, continues to effectively promote and implement cooperation agreements in all areas.

Both sides have closely coordinated, achieving good results; economic, trade, and investment cooperation were given attention, promoted and yielded significant results; educational cooperation, cooperation among ministries, sectors, localities, and businesses continue to be strengthened and become more substantive, with training under various forms increasingly expanding, receiving attention from both Governments.

Viengsavanh, for his part, emphasised specific areas, programs, and cooperation projects to promote cooperation and economic connectivity; improving the efficiency of investment and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in the future.

He suggested continuing to focus on implementing the directives of both Politburos, Joint Statements, and high-level agreements of the two countries; deploy the Strategy and Cooperation Agreement between the two countries; facilitate trade development between the two countries and promote the increase in two-way trade turnover.

At the meeting, both delegations of senior officials evaluated the implementation of the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Plan Agreement for 2023, discussed the direction and tasks for cooperation in 2024; exchanged and agreed on the contents of the draft documents: the Agreement on the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Plan for 2024 and the Minutes of the Session to be presented to both Governments for consideration at the official session of the 46th Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee Meeting.

The opinions also focused on discussing specific areas, programs, and cooperation projects to push cooperation, economic connectivity, improving the efficiency of investment and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in the future./.
