Australia will provide 30 million AUD (close to 29 million USD) over the next four years to help Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia improve electricity supplies, local media reported.
Through the World Bank, Australia will grant 3.5 million AUD to Vietnam to improve the reliability and efficiency of electricity supplies to rural communities and support three local power companies to adapt to power sector reforms, the “Age” daily on July 3 cited Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith as saying.
Meanwhile, Australia will provide 15 million AUD to help Laos extend electricity supply to 11,500 households in 170 villages, and increase to 20,000 the number of households using solar electricity.
In Cambodia, Australia will provide 12.3 million AUD to help extend electricity supply to an additional 13,000 households and small enterprises in rural areas.
