Hanoi (VNA) – Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan praised the friendship associations of Laos and Vietnam ’s contributions to deepening the two countries’ special relations and comprehensive cooperation.
Doan made the comments while receiving a delegation from the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association led by its President Somkot Mangnormek, in Hanoi on May 20.
The Vice State President urged the associations to expand friendly exchanges and increase public awareness, particularly for younger generations, of the special ties between Vietnam and Laos .
After thanking Vice State President Doan for her reception, Mangnormek spoke about recent outcomes of cooperation between the two associations.
The official, who is also Lao Minister of Education, said local chapters, especially those in border provinces, combined friendship activities with economic, trade and cultural cooperation to support mutual efforts to eliminate hunger, reduce poverty and ensure border security.-
