Malaysian low-cost carrier AirAsia Bhd wants to set up affiliate airlines in Vietnam and the Philippines to strengthen its footprint in the ASEAN region, local media reported.
Low-cost carrier AirAsia Bhd wants to have new associate units in the two countries as this would help the carrier access to a combined population of roughly 180 million, the Business Times of Malaysia said.
AirAsia now has a 49 percent stake each in affiliate airlines Indonesia AirAsia and Thai AirAsia.
