The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT) just declared that two imports from Laos – rice of all kinds and tobacco leaves and stems – will enjoy the import tax rate of 0%.
Only traders, licensed by the MIT under Circular 04/2006/TT-BTM dated on April 6, 2006, are allowed to import tobacco leaves and stems.
All imports listed in the Circular must have their C/O form S, issued by Laos’ authorities, and must go through the stipulated border gates.
The import quota in 2009 for rice is 40,000 tons and for tobacco 3,000 tons.
