General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nong Duc Manh on Tuesday received the delegation of the Government of the Lao Democratic People’s Republic, headed by Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, Permanent Deputy PM, Chairman of the Lao-Vietnam Cooperation Subcommittee.

Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad briefed the host Party leader about results of the mid-term meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-governmental Committee which was convened on August 1-3 in Nghe An Province.
He reiterated that the Government and people of Laos will spare no effort to consolidate and strengthen the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
General Secretary Nong Duc Manh highly spoke of the outcomes of the mid-term meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Committee as well as the performances of its subcommittees over the past time.
The host expressed his hope that the two sides will continue to closely work together, especially in coping with the financial crisis and economic recession, completing mechanisms and policies for cooperation, urging agencies and localities of the two countries to realize the bilateral cooperation agreements, and drafting the cooperation strategy for the period of 2011-2020./.
