Meeting Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai in Hanoi on Tuesday, Director Kikuchi Fumio of the Asia Department of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) expressed his pleasure at the signing of the exchange of notes on preferential credits worth of ¥65 billion for five projects electric power, infrastructure and energy development.
He revealed that in early November, Japan plans to grant Vietnam an urgent loan (¥55 billion) to in response to the economic crisis.
The credits brings Japan’s ODA total for Vietnam in 2009 to a record figure of around US $1.2 billion.
JICA’s representative noted that Japan pays special attention to infrastructure and climate change responding projects. He also proposed some measures to make use ODA resources.
