Vietnamese PM Nguyen Tan Dzung and Indian PM Manmohan Singh, who are both staying in Cha-am Hua Hin, Thailand for the 15th ASEAN Summit, on Sunday witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on India’s recognition of Vietnam’s full market economy.

The Vietnamese PM highly valued Vietnam’s cooperation with India in such fields as economics, technology transfer and education while suggesting the two sides outline new mechanisms for bilateral cooperation.
PM Manmohan Singh reiterated that his Government and India places a special importance on the strategic partnership with Vietnam.
The Indian business circle is also much interested in business and investment activities in Vietnam he added, hoping that the upcoming visits to India by Vietnamese State President Nguyen Minh Triet and NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong will surely deepen the Vietnam-India Partnership.
PM Manmohan Singh stated that, after signing the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on commodity, India is willing to negotiate for a new FTA on services and investment with ASEAN.
Praising Vietnam’s ASEAN presidency in 2010, the Indian PM expected that Vietnam will help to boost the relationship between India and ASEAN.
