Receiving Sri Lanka’s President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is on an official visit to Vietnam, both Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and PM Nguyen Tan Dzung confirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy to support the Government of Sri Lanka’s efforts to stabilize its domestic situations, counter terrorism and restore security.

Both Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and PM Nguyen Tan Dzung expressed their pleasure at great leaps of the Vietnam-Sri Lanka relationship recently.
They were convinced that the visit of President Mahinda Rajapaksa will help to promote economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
General Secretary Nong Duc Manh suggested the two countries continue their close coordination on regional and international forums, for the sake of peace, stability and development in Asia.
Meanwhile, PM Nguyen Tan Dzung affirmed that the Government of Vietnam will actively realize all agreements reached in the talks between State President Nguyen Minh Triet and President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that Vietnam and Sri Lanka share the same solid foundation to cement and deepen their bilateral relations.
He added that the documents inked in his talks with the host President will pave the way for the multifaceted cooperation in the time to come.

Vietnam and Sri Lanka established diplomatic ties nearly 40 years ago. They have signed cooperation agreements on culture, trade, post, aviation, economy, science and technology, tourism, anti-double taxation, and visa exemption for diplomatic passport holders.
