The Australian government has announced funding of 148,000 AUD to help Vietnam strengthen its aviation security procedures, according to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government.
Australia and Vietnam share aloes links in the aviation sector and this initiative will assist the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) to strengthen its security regime, said the department in a media release on October 6.
The project will be funded under AusAID's Public Sector Linkages Programme and delivered by the Office of Transport Security within the Department of Infrastructure.
The project will focus on building up security in the aviation sector, including providing access to an International Civil Aviation Organisation accredited training course, two international standard aviation security courses, and a visit to Darwin International Airport to observe Australia's world-class aviation security practices.
Officials from CAAV and airport security management from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi will also take part in the programme.
Australia is committed to strengthening security in transport services across the Asia-Pacific region and this partnership will also enhance the relationship between Australia and Vietnam./.
