Vietnam has created favorable conditions to welcome Swiss enterprises to do business there, said State President Nguyen Minh Triet on May 17 (local time) in Zurich City.

The Vietnamese Head of State made the statement while delivering a keynote speech at the Vietnam-Switzerland Business Forum which is titled “Vietnam – Land of Golden Opportunities.”
President Triet expressed his pleasure at the fine development in the Vietnam-Switzerland relationship, especially in both political and economic domains. This illustrates the mutual understanding and close ties between the two nations, said the Vietnamese President.
State President Triet also took this occasion to thank the Western European country for granting Vietnam the Most Favored Nation (MFN) status, the generalized preferential tariffs and human resource development programs.
Vietnam has become one of the most attractive investment destinations for Swiss players, affirmed Mr. Jean-Daniel Gerber, Swiss State Secretary for Economic Affairs. He went on to say that Switzerland extremely prioritizes to cement and deepen economic ties with the Southeast Asian country.
Between 1998 and 2009, the two-way trade turnover between the two countries surged by five times. Switzerland ranks the fourth among Vietnam’s largest importers. There are wide doors for Swiss enterprises to tap Vietnam’s potentials in tourism, service, insurance, banking, and telecommunications.
Earlier, State President Triet received leaders of Credit Suisse, a leading financial company in Switzerland and the world.
The leaders of Credit Suisse pledged to fund big projects in Vietnam and support the recipient country to train financial human resources in State-owned enterprises./.
