The mid-term Consultative Group (CG) meeting for Vietnam will take place in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang from June 9-10, said the World Bank (WB).
The meeting will evaluate the country’s macro-economic performance and priority policies for this year, according to the WB, which will co-host the event together with the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
Participants will discuss and make suggestions to Vietnam’s socio-economic development strategy for the 2011-2020 period, and its 2011-2015 socio-economic plan, focusing on economic reform, growth for all, human resources development and building resilience to climate change.
On this occasion, the delegates will make fact-finding trips to a number of projects funded by donors in the province.
Meanwhile, a delegation of foreign ambassadors and representatives of the aid donors will pay field trips to the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho and An Giang province, and Cambodia from June 6-8.
The visits will be organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Australian Embassy in Hanoi and the Korean Export-Import Bank (Korean Eximbank).
The Government of Australia, ADB and Korean Eximbank have financed a project on building the Greater Mekong Sub-region Southern Coastal Corridor to link Vietnam’s southern provinces with Cambodia./.
