Bilateral economic cooperation of Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJ-EPA) is expected to speed up turnover at Indonesia's manufacture sector to 54 billion U.S. dollars in 2014, Bisnis Indonesia daily quoted an official as saying on Wednesday.
Achdiat Atmawinata, an expert with the Ministry for Industrial Structure Strengthening, said the business potential could be reached if manufacture sector strengthening program in the Manufacturing Industrial Development Center (MIDEC) runs as targeted.
In automotive sector, he said, Indonesia could seize car market worth 10 billion dollars in line with sales target of 1 million units starting 2012.
In the same time, motorcycle sales are targeted to reach 8 million units valued at 8 billion dollars.
In electronic industry, heavy equipment and renewable energy, Indonesia has a chance to increase turnover to 10 billion dollars starting 2012, he said.
"It is not impossible that in 2014, turnover potential of national manufacture sector could increase to 54 billion dollars," he said.
In the IJ-EPA implementation, Indonesia provides Japan customs liberalization through a special scheme called the User Specific Duty Free Scheme (USDFS).
On the contrary, Indonesia asks for compensation through a cooperation to increase national industrial competitiveness through MIDEC./.
