Mr. Hung made the announcement at an international press briefing on Tuesday in Hanoi.
The forum provides both Vietnam and Africa a chance to review the achievements of economic cooperation over the past six years since Vietnam adopted the National Action Plan to promote cooperation with Africa for the 2004-2010 period.
The event is expected to create a significant foundation to elevate the Vietnam-Africa relationship to a new phase through completing the legal framework for cooperation and identifying top prioritized cooperative areas.
On the occasion, several documents will be signed, such as the Agreements on the waiver of visa for diplomatic and official passport holders between Vietnam and Burkina Faso, and Egypt.
At least 41 international delegations have confirmed their participation, including 22 African countries and 15 international organizations, and the United Nations Undersecretary General and the Special Advisor on Africa.
Other participants to the event are representatives of the countries which have conducted three or four-party cooperation with Vietnam and Africa like France and Japan. There are also African enterprises and scholars.
On the Vietnamese side, many ministers, leaders of sectors and enterprises will also join the forum which is especially featured with the PM Nguyen Tan Dung’s keynote speech.
Vietnam and African countries have been enjoying a traditional special friendship formed during their struggles for national liberation. For years, the Southeast Asian country always attaches great importance to reinforcing and enhancing the traditional friendship and cooperation with Africa in its foreign policy.
The Government’s decision to organize the 2nd Vietnam-Africa International Forum has been a clear evidence for its determination to promote economic cooperation with African countries in a practical and sustainable manner./.
