Brazil's gross domestic product (GDP) will register a low growth rate in the second quarter of 2010, the country's Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA) said Monday.
The nine-percent increase reached in the first quarter would not be repeated in the second quarter due to the impact of the global economic crisis and the country's high-level household debts, the IPEA said.
Compared to the first quarter, there were signs of a slowdown both in industry and retailing, it said.
Brazil's GDP figures for the second quarter are expected to be released in early September.
