Ministers from six countries of the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) will attend the 16th GMS Ministerial Meeting in Hanoi from August 19-20 to discuss and adopt new strategies, roadmaps and action plans.

The meeting will also review and provide guidelines for the region’s long-term development strategy in the 2012–2022 period and the settlement of problems, especially those relating to economic corridors.
At the event, the ministers, including Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment Vo Hong Phuc, and Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Lawrence Greenwood, will discuss measures to consolidate infrastructure, formalize transactions and trans-border transport fees, improve business environment, and ensure social security and environment.
Since 1992, the six countries have participated in a comprehensive cooperation program to jointly develop transport, energy, telecommunications, human resources, environment and natural resource management, trade facilitation, private investment, tourism and agriculture with the assistance of ADB and development partners./.
