The Ministries of Planning and Investment of Vietnam and Laos have agreed to increase the exchange of information and the visits between the two sides.
These agreements were reached during the talks between Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Dang Huy Dong and his counterpart Thoongmi Phomvisay during his visit to Laos from August 15-18.
At the talks, the two sides expressed pleasures at the rapid increase of Vietnamese investment projects in the recent time. They said in the near future, the both nations will also host annual deputy minister-level meeting to prepare for the annual sessions of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee.
While in Laos, Dong had a meeting with Minister of Planning and Investment Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune during which the Lao minister said that Laos would create favourable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest in the country, contributing to deepen relations between the two countries.
Recently, the Lao Development Bank (LDB) signed a memorandum of understanding with Sacombank Securities Company of Vietnam to set up Lanexang Securities Public Co Ltd which specialises in providing financial consultancy to businesses in Laos.
Bounta Daravy, Executive Director of LDB, said that the 30 billion kip joint venture will officially go into operation in two months, in coincidence with the opening of the Lao securities market.
Established in 2003, the LDB has 11 representative offices in Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Germany, the US and Switzerland./.
