Vietnam’s economy grew at 6.78% this year and the per-capita GDP reached US $1,168 USD, doubling the figure in 2006, announced the General Statistics Office recently.
In 2010, the country made the ever biggest export turnovers of US $71.6 billion, a yearly increase of 25.5%, while lowering the trade deficit rate to 17.3% from 25.2% (compared to export turnover) in 2009.
In the year, it attracted over 5 million foreign visitors for the first time.
In addition, industrial production value rose 14%, and paddy rice output increased by over 1 million tons to nearly 40 million tons.
Total retail sales and consumer service revenues in 2010 rose 24.5% against 2009.
Vietnam currently has a population of 86.9 million, of which 50.1 million are in working age. Its unemployment rate is nearly 2.9%./.
