Domestic businesses have to date signed contracts to export more than 2.6 million tonnes of rice, of which 1.27 million tonnes will be delivered in the coming time.
In March, local companies shipped abroad almost 232,000 tonnes of rice, bringing to the total volume since the beginning of this year to 1.33 million tonnes worth 641 million USD, said the Vietnam Food Association (VFA).
VFA said the rice stockpiles of businesses now exceed 1.1 million tonnes, while companies in the Mekong Delta bought more than 300,000 tonnes just after 15 days./.
