Two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and the US amounted to US $4.743 billion in the first quarter of 2011, up 19.6% from the same period last year, according to the US Department of Commerce.
Of the figure, Vietnam shipped commodities worth nearly US $3.7 billion to the US, US $560.8 million more than to the same period last year.
Noticeably, garments topped the country’s key exports, earning US $1.478 billion, followed by footwear, with US $456.4 million.
Other key exports to the US included timber products, machines, electric equipment, and aquatic product.
Meanwhile, the US imported over US $1.050 billion in goods from Vietnam, up 26.3% over the same period of 2010./.
