Eurozone economy grew by 0.8 percent in the first quarter of 2011 compared with the previous quarter, the European Union's (EU's) statistical office Eurostat said on Friday.
The figure is much higher than the 0.3 percent seen in the fourth quarter of last year, according to the flash estimate of Eurostat.
Compared with the first quarter of 2010, eurozone economy grew by 2.5 percent, also higher than the 2.0 percent in the previous quarter.
Meanwhile, the EU's economy also registered an increase of 0.8 percent on a quarterly basis and an increase of 2.5 percent on a yearly basis./.
