The Republic of Korea has mapped out an ODA strategy for Viet Nam in the 2011 – 2015 period, focusing on preparing the foundation for sustainable growth, environment and green growth, human resources training, and improvement of transport infrastructure.
The information was unveiled in Ha Noi on June 8 at the KoR Embassy’s press conference on developments in cooperation between Viet Nam and the RoK, and the recent performance of Korean firms in Viet Nam.
By 2010, the RoK was Viet Nam’s second biggest ODA donor, approving a total sum of US $1.255 billion.
In 2011, the RoK plans to fund US $215 million for projects in Đa Nang, Quang Binh, An Giang, Lao Cai… The projects are expected to involve in medical equipment, solar energy, electronic database, water supply and climate change.
At the conference, the RoK embassy offered the Vietnamese side VND 141 million (proceedings from the Korean Gastronomy Festival in November 2010) to assist local disadvantaged children./.
