(MPI Portal) - On February 23, 2011 morning, after the working session at the head office of the Vietnamese MPI, Minister Vo Hong Phuc and the Cambodian Senior Minister of Planning Chhay Than witnessed the signing ceremony of minutes of the 2nd meeting reviewing implementation of Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Vietnamese MPI and Cambodian MoP signed in 2010 and cooperation guidelines for 2011.

In the minutes, the two parties discussed about the cooperation guidelines between the two Ministries in 2011 with the following contents:
The Vietnamese MPI agreed to receive 30 cadres from the Cambodian Planning sector to visit and work in Vietnam (the contents and agenda would be reported via diplomatic channels).
For its part, Vietnam agreed to delegate experts to provide guidance of GDP calculation methods in Phnom Penh and Cambodian provinces as requested by the Cambodian MoP.
With a view to assisting the development of the Khmer version of the Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam website, the Vietnamese MPI would continue its assistance in training and fostering Cambodian technical officials.
The Cambodian MoP expressed its consent to help its partner arrange accommodations for Vietnamese delegations working in Cambodia and provide documents to its partner so that the Vietnamese MPI would draw out Vietnam - Cambodia cooperation strategy for the period of 2011- 2020.
The Cambodian MoP agreed to welcome 15 cadres from the Vietnamese Planning and Investment sector to Cambodia in order to exchange experience about plan development and management in Cambodia (the contents and agenda would be reported via diplomatic channels).
The two parties reached an agreement on the promotion of the relationships among Cambodian Departments of Planning and Vietnamese Departments of Planning and Investment; working with competent agencies of the two countries to include 26 scholarships for the Cambodian MoP in the Agreement reached at the 12th session of the Vietnamese-Cambodian Joint Committee for economic, cultural, scientific - technical cooperation in the early 2011 in Vietnam. The two parties also agreed to maintain the exchange of information on socio-economic situations of Vietnam and Cambodia for plan development and management, to speed up the youth exchange and cooperation between the two Ministries and to hold an exchange between the two Ministries in the late 2011 in Vietnam which would be chaired by the Deputy Minister.
Mr. Chhay Than expressed his great gratitude to the Vietnamese Minister and Vietnamese officials for their warm and considerate reception and respectfully invited his counterpart to visit and work in Cambodia in early 2012. The Vietnamese Minister accepted the invitation of the Cambodian Minister and the particular schedule of the visit would be reported via diplomatic channels.
The two Ministers agreed to authorize their representatives to sign the Minutes of the 2nd meeting reviewing the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Vietnamese MPI and the Cambodian MoP and drawing out cooperation guidelines for 2011./.
