French consumers were more confident of the country's economic performance in July than a month earlier as the consumer confidence index improved by 3 points, French national statistics bureau Insee said on Tuesday.
The consumers' sentiment about future economy improved to minus 44 this month from minus 47 a month earlier but "remain notably below their long term average."
Household appreciation for their past financial balance gained 3 points, and 2 points for the future compared to a month before and thus they think it's good time for making major purchases, according to the monthly economic survey.
As to unemployment rate, more people predicted for an increase of joblessness in the future as the index jumped by 10 points to 43.
The jobless rate in metropolitan France stood at 9.5 percent in May after reporting over 2.6 million jobless population in the mainland.
